Ozark Boards started with custom builds, then grew into full league and event operations for SW Missouri.

What started in a garage has grown into a community built around competition, craftsmanship, and a German Shepherd who still likes hanging out in the shop.

Two teams, one family: Ozark Boards LLC builds the boards. Ozark Boards Cornhole Club LLC runs leagues, tournaments, and private events. Whether you need cornhole boards or need us to run a tournament, we have you covered.

The Ozark Boards Story

FROM A GARAGE TO
THE OZARKS

Ozark Boards began in 2016 when Troy Schliem started building cornhole boards for friends in his garage. What started as a small hobby quickly grew as more people saw the craftsmanship and wanted boards of their own.

In 2019, Troy moved to Springfield, Missouri. When COVID hit shortly after, people began spending more time at home looking for ways to have fun in their backyards. Demand for cornhole boards surged, and Ozark Boards started gaining serious momentum.

Later that year, Troy adopted Bear—a goofy German Shepherd—from an animal shelter in Kansas. Like most German Shepherds, Bear quickly bonded with his owner and wanted to be wherever Troy was… including the woodworking shop. Bear developed a habit of wandering into photos Troy posted on social media, and before long he became a bit of a local celebrity.

It wasn’t long before Troy decided the fun-loving shop dog needed to be part of the brand. Bear was incorporated into the Ozark Boards logo, and Ozark Boards, LLC truly came to life.

From there, Troy’s passion for cornhole grew beyond building boards. Playing the game and organizing tournaments soon became just as much of an obsession as crafting the boards themselves.

In early 2026, Troy teamed up with partner Joe Newman to launch the Ozark Boards Cornhole Club LLC—an organization dedicated to promoting and growing the game of cornhole in the Ozarks through leagues, tournaments, and private events, all run by the club.

What started in a garage has grown into a community built around competition, craftsmanship, and a German Shepherd who still likes hanging out in the shop.

Club Play

Monday night events &
Tuesday night league play

All league events are held at Club Rodeo in Springfield, MO

Monday nights are single public events with tiered divisions when participant numbers support it. Tuesday league is doubles only, six weeks with a week off, then the next league begins—a season-length commitment with tiered divisions after the first two weeks.

Monday — Open events

Monday nights are single events open to the public. These are two-person team events such as a blind draw—where you play with a random partner for the evening—a switcholio, a format that combines blind draw with dynamic partner switching so you’re paired with a new partner for every game, and singles tournaments. Cash prizes go to the top three spots for each event. Monday events are typically $20 per person with six games guaranteed. When turnout supports it, brackets use tiered divisions by participant count. Can’t commit to a 6-week league? Come out and play with us on Monday nights.

Tuesday — Doubles league

Tuesday league is doubles only. Seasons run six weeks, then there’s a week off before the next league begins. Bring a partner of your choosing—we can usually help match you if you don’t have one. After the first two weeks, the field splits into three tiered divisions, ending in a double elimination tournament in week six. Cash prizes go to the top three teams in each division. League events are $50 per team with dozens of games guaranteed—the exact number depends on how many players are in the field.

Scoreholio

Scoreholio is the app we use for all events. To play with us, download the app to your phone and set up a personal account—the basic version is free. From there it handles signups for events, notifications for games and courts, and stat tracking. If you need help getting set up, we can assist when you arrive. It’s very user-friendly.
